Grace

I've been a practising Christian for many years and the older I get the more I realise that it is a never-ending journey of discovery, challenge and blessing. There are ever-more deeper depths to plumb. The journey is never boring but it can be frustrating. I want to be the person God created me to be NOW - the loving, affirming wife, the patient and understanding parent, the compassionate daughter, the self-sacrificing sister, the giving friend. But so often I get to the end of the day and realise how far below the ideal standard I fall.

God has been speaking to me recently about 'getting to the end of myself.' In that place, I rely not on my own determination, talents or strategies but rather on his grace and strength. Coming with nothing, I can receive everything I need. So I'm learning to open my palms rather than clenching my fists and take the joy and the pain to him.
