Christopher Dean is the church administrator

Christopher manages the church office and buildings which are in constant use both by groups from within the church and the wider community of Eastbourne. Christopher started his career in the hotel industry by joining British Transport Hotels’ seven year management training programme. This included working in every department of large hotels, both in this country and in Europe.

He went on to work his way up the management ladder, culminating in senior management at the Great Eastern Hotel in the City of London. Whilst there he was awarded the Freedom of the City for services to hospitality.

When British Transport Hotels was privatised, Christopher was recruited by Holiday Inns of Canada, and moved to Vancouver as Food and Beverage Director. There followed several moves , to Edmonton, Nanaimo and Slave Lake, with Deirdre and three small children. They returned to Scotland in 1989 where he worked for Hilton, before being head hunted by Wallace Arnold in 1992 to manage the Burlington in Eastbourne, their flagship hotel.

He has been there for the past fifteen years, making a distinct impression on the Eastbourne hospitality scene. After many years of long hours and high pressure work, in late 2006 he prayerfully considered his future and took early retirement in January 2007. The post of Administrator at Victoria became free at just this time and Christopher felt that this was the direction in which God was leading him.

Christopher is married to Deirdre, who is also active in the church, and is the Administrator of the Eastbourne Blind Society. They have three adult children, Callum, Kyla and Andrew. Christopher is a member of the Eastbourne Scottish Pipe Band as a tenor drummer, and is a fanatic of narrow boats, canals and inland waterways in general.
